The mailbox itself and the careless way it was put up and not maintained or the area around it cleaned up…welll…speaks for itself.
It speaks volumes about the people who live there.
That is THAT.
Let’s quit talking about the war (for God’s sake!!), self-centered people, tattoo’s, hair color, board members, foreclosures, gated communities, poor grammar and every other ridiculous thing!!
The mailbox does not do anything to make any of our homes look nicer, that is for sure.
Neither do a lot of other things in this neighborhood.
Neither do a lot of others things in a lot of other neighborhoods….not just ours.
There are also a lot of GREAT people in this neighborhood.
I think that each and every one of us cares about the safety of our children and about our neighbors and their well-being when it all comes down to it.
I hope we do.
Otherwise, why would you live in a private neighborhood with an association and rules?
When we CHOSE to move in to this neighborhood….just like all you did….we read the rule book, we saw the speed bumps, we saw the posted speed limit, we saw how people did or did not care for their lawns, we knew it was located in CEDAR SPRINGS and not EGR and we still made a MAJOR investment in the purchase of a home inside this neighborhood.
We hate the mailbox.
I think if everyone had their choice, it would not be there. Does anyone drive by that house and say, my that looks nice? It is an eye sore.
BOTTOM LINE……
The picture was meant to be funny!!
The original posting said nothing nasty and the title was simply “OH DEER!!”
The people who posted it meant to get a good chuckel out of it….not to start a war.
We all gossip.
Each and Every Last One of Us.
Don’t act like you don’t.
If you don’t gossip or associate with someone in the neighborhood that gossips…well…then you would not know about this website, would you?
We live in a very close-knit neighborhood. Too close sometimes….but…you moved in.
You made that choice.
I just don’t understand why someone would move into a neighborhood with rules and an association and private roads if they didn’t want to take care of their home.
Nobody else cares about this neighborhood except the 70+ homes and the families inside it.
People outside of our neighborhood would care less if we each had 8 cars in the yard, a motor home, brown grass and giraffe mailboxes.
We are the only ones that are affected when someone is negligent and don’t take pride in the neighborhood they are part owner of.
If we all don’t take care of our homes and yards, who suffers?
All of us when it is time to try and sell one of our homes….thats who. Nobody else besides the people inside this neighborhood care whether or not we take care of this place. That is why I just can’t quite understand when I see people who do nothing to their home and yard. I think that is what I think is the WORST about this mailbox.
They could have removed the white stones before they threw red mulch into it and over the rocks, they could have planted bushes around it to “disguise it” a little (afterall….deer like to hide, dont they?), they could have planted flowers (deer like flowers, dont’ they?), they could have removed the original mailbox stump from next to it, they could have made it more tasteful than they did. I totally agree. Put some long decorative grass around it….something.
But again….we all gossip and we all talk and it would be dumb to act like we don’t.

And God…..of course there are bigger things to talk about in the world than this mailbox…..but we are HUMAN!!!We can’t spend our lives focusing on the seriousness of everything!!!!!

I think we should call a truce in Santree.
That sounds ridiculous, but I don’t know how else to word it. There are some very nice people who live here. We are glad to know so many of them.
