4×4 Meme

Link Love February 26th, 2008

I haven’t done a meme in a very long time, and I normally wouldn’t since they aren’t really relevant to my blog. I mean, you guys just come here to look at crazy mail receptacles amirite?

However, I’m making an exception for Forest Parks since he’s been a long time visitor and participant in this blogging adventure. Plus he just quit his job and is going whole hog with his blog and online marketing, so he needs some link loving (don’t we all).

I have to answer 4 questions on 4 topics, then tag 4 people.

4 Jobs I’ve Had in My Life

  1. My first job was with Herman’s Sporting Goods store. I started as a cashier in high school but eventually did pretty much anything; selling shoes, stringing tennis rackets, drilling bowling balls and merchandising. It was a crappy retail job but honestly I learned a lot about customer service, merchandising and teamwork.
  2. In college, I worked as an assistant volleyball coach for a community college. Challenging to the point that I had what must have been as close to nervous breakdown as possible.
  3. After the coaching debacle, I started my first desk job for an office supply company. I did order entry and took customer service calls (”Where the @#$% is my copy paper!!!) Really exciting stuff there. *rolls eyes*
  4. My last job, before this stay at home mom gig began, was with an automotive financial consulting firm. I was in training and consulting and provided software support for our business planning and web tools.

4 Shows I DVR (TIVO)

  1. Lost
  2. Dexter (omg creepy goodness)
  3. House
  4. Ace of Cakes

4 Places I’ve Been

I’ve been to a lot more than four places in the US, never out of the country, unless you count the Bahamas. Here’s my top 4 in no particular order.

  1. Taos, New Mexico - We went skiing here in … heck I want to say 94? It’s beautiful. Love the art and the landscape. Peaceful and serene. Definitely the kind of place I’d hole up when I finally reached my goal of becoming a hermit.
  2. San Francisco, California - Probably the only city I’d want to live in. Although it’s a little chilly.
  3. Hawaii - It’s Hawaii. It’s gorgeous. Duh.
  4. Keystone, Colorado - Last year’s ski trip. Mountains, snow, trees, fresh air, lotsa sun, altitude sickness…

4 Favorite Foods

  1. Spring rolls, not eggrolls, not the fresh ones. Mom’s are the best.
  2. Eggplant rollatini.
  3. Enchiladas
  4. Fried calamari - P.F. Chang’s has the best for a chain. The most recently yummiest fried calamari I had was in Vegas a few months ago at Smith and Wollensky’s. The best ever was in Dana Point, CA that served it as calamari ’steak”, but I can’t remember the name of the place. It was at Dana Point Harbor.

4 People I Tag

  1. Chris from Catnip Corner who tagged me with the “Entrecard - Above the Fold” meme. If you love kittons you’ll love this blog.
  2. Kathy from the Junk Drawer always on the look out for ugly mailboxes, and she’s a great writer.
  3. And speaking of great writing, I’m tagging Poetikat because her poems are lovely and inspiring.
  4. Last but certainly not least, Judi at Momma Muse obsessive entrecard dropper that lives in a zoo! She has rats and hedgehogs and dogs, and cats oh my.

What’s on My Desktop

Link Love October 4th, 2007

Forest, has tagged me with the “What’s on your desktop?” meme.

So here’s mine:

That’s World of Warcraft cover art for a Korean gaming magazine… I think. I’m not sure I downloaded it a long time ago. I keep my icons tidy and limited to programs I use on a daily basis. What an unveiling of my complete geekdom. Ah well.

Is it ok if I don’t tag anyone? Any blogs I frequent I’ve tagged for some sort of meme or carnival a long time ago. I’m just going to keep it real, but here’s links to those that have participated so far, and if you want to jump in on it, you know the drill:

Hate Is Such an Ugly Word

Link Love August 30th, 2007

And there you have it, the antithesis of the “I love your Blog”. I will display it as proudly as the “I Love Your Blog.” Sad Old Goth has not let me down.

All publicity is good publicity. Any emotion is better than no emotion. (Wow. That’s emo)

At the moment I can’t think of anyone other than than the Crazy Aussie Bastard (who hates everyone) that is more deserving of the reward. However, I’ll keep it in mind for the future!

It’s Good to be Loved!

Link Love August 28th, 2007

The totally pissed off Twisted Sisters have given me their badge o’ luv.

I love your blog

I shall wear it proudly and share a couple of blogs that I luv too. Some I’ve known for a while and some were luv at first sight!

DiSjoiNteD INtelLigenCe : the insightful Wonder Woman, her posts always are always thought provoking.

BlueJar.com : good tips here for bloggers, information written with personality so you can avoid the Zzzzz’s

Sad Old Goth : what’s left of my once ultra-feminist liberal self screams “nooooo” sometimes, but I can’t deny that I dig the cynicism, anger and emo of SOD (that would be your band name!). I want to see if I can get the goth to put a heart and “luv”on his sidebar. Or better yet, drive him to make a I Hate Your Blog! badge.

People You’ll See in Hell : when you think your kids are bad, or you’re a bad parent, or that you’re too paranoid, go here, get your dose of reality.

Link Love August 24th, 2007

Lis tagged me for this, probably as revenge for me tagging her in the past ;) I know meme’s aren’t a lot of fun to read, but this one is ok because it’s a “get to know me” type.

Face Behind the Blog: Sorry, no new pictures of me, but here’s my new kitton! He’s 2 months old, my son picked him out at the Humane Society and he named him Cutie Pie.

I’ve been nominated for a blogger’s choice award

Link Love August 10th, 2007

A very nice individual nominated me for a Blogger’s Choice Award in the Hobby category.

I suppose photographing ugly mailboxes is a hobby. A very strange hobby, but a hobby none the less.

If you feel so inclined, vote for me.

I was checking out some of the categories that are available from blogger’s choice. I wonder what I have to do to get “the most obnoxious blogger award”? (besides just being myself. )
