This is an example of “secure” mail service. I got this beauty on a night photo raid because I felt “safer” taking this shot under cover of darkness. This is shotgun country and anyone paranoid enough to use a safe for the base of their mail box probably doesn’t want anyone taking a picture of it either. I am hooked on ugly mailboxes:)

I can certainly relate to being in “shotgun country” and I appreciate your stealth photo shoot!

Just not sure the reasoning behind the big red box. There is no opening for a newspaper or such. The house wasn’t red… Perhaps the mailbox didn’t meet the height requirement and this was their solution. I suppose it’s better than other Creative Solutions.

I’m running out of ‘material’ and may have to extend my search for ugly and/or unique mailboxes beyond the 15 mile radius of my house. I beseech you to roam your neighborhoods looking for mailboxes to send in to me! Maybe something old and dilapidated, like this…

Alright enough with the cutesy birdie mailboxes and stuff, here’s what you really want, the tacky and unexplainable.

Here’s a mailbox made out of extra bath tiles and mirrored tile. With a reflector thrown in for good measure.

Grimm… grim indeed.

I post pictures of any unusual mailbox, not just ugly ones. Some are cute. Some are wacky but not unattractive.

But I love the hideous ones. The ones that make me think “WTF” and lock up the breaks and scramble to dig my camera out of my purse.

This one did for sure.

I guess they couldn’t fit the mailbox in the trashbag.

Our neighbors decided to let their 14 year old son park their Suburban. Bad idea as the mailbox was no match for the truck. Now the mailboxes are held in place with the help of a not-so-high-tech ladder.

There’s a reason you can’t get your driver’s license until 16!
