Thirsty Thursday – Partida and G-Vine Review
Uncategorized August 2nd, 2007
Shortly after my first Thirsty Thursday, Megan Esteves of Colangelo & Partners Public Relations contacted me about two products she thought I would be interested in trying. (By “products” I mean booze, and there’s just really no way I’m going to say no to that, right?)
Federal Express delivered the tequila, agave nectar, gin and a packet of information that included recipes on Tuesday. I was anxious to try the tequila but I’m not a big fan of drinking hard liquor straight. However, I figured if I was going to be honest about my review I really ought to take a sip, right?
I tried the Partida Reposado first. It is lighter in color than the Anejo and darker than the Blanco (which is clear, duh). I am by no means a connoisseur of tequila, but I have to say it was smooth. This is the kind of tequila you can sip, not throw back in a shot glass on a dare.
Between the Blanco and the Reposado, I’d say I preferred the Reposado. It’s a personal preference, I know. It just seemed a little sweeter and easier on my palate.
At this point, I really wanted to make that margarita. Luckily, I remembered my little key lime tree in the backyard that I got as a gift for my birthday last year. Here’s the recipe they sent, but I used key limes as a substitute. I have to say, they were the best margaritas I’ve ever had.

Partida Agave Nectar Margarita
1 1/2 oz Partida Blanco Tequila
1 oz Fresh squeezed lime juice
3/4 oz Agave Nectar
3/4 Water
Shake all ingredients with ice in a shaker. Strain over fresh ice into a margarita glass. Never with salt!
G-Vine promises that “If you don’t like traditional gin, you will love G’Vine”
Well, I don’t like traditional gin, in fact I really don’t like it. However, this gin was different. It’s the first Gin made from grape spirit and the vine flower. It was not as harsh as any other gin I’ve tried.
Still, it’s not something I would drink on it’s own, so I decided to try a recipe called the G-Spot (of course I did!). I’m more of a beer and wine gal, but I really enjoyed this drink. The raspberry and lime balanced very well with the gin.
G’Spot
1 1/2 oz G’Vine
1 oz Sour Mix
1/2 oz Chambord
Shake and server in a martini glass. Garnish with lime wedge.
Overall, I was impressed with both products and I’ll look for the Partida locally the next time I make Margaritas.
For more information and recipes and the history behind these fine spirits, you can visit the G-Vine and Partida Tequila websites.
By the way, if anyone else would like to send me free alcohol, or food, or diamonds to “sample”, I’m down with that

Extremely Hairy Man Wants to Carry Olympic Torch
Tuesday , July 31, 2007
By E.D. Hill
The latest weird and wacky news from around the world:
What is the most appealing trait for a potential Olympic torch carrier to have? Yu Zhenhuan of Liaoning, China, thinks the answer is hairiness. Zhenhuan, who calls himself “King Kong,” is one of the world’s hairiest men, and he’s adamant that he’s the best candidate for the job. He explains, “The Olympics belong to everyone – the common people and those with abnormalities included.” Ninety-six percent of his body is covered with hair. That said, “King Kong” probably doesn’t need anyone to “cover his back,” but 2000 gymnastics gold medal winner Xing Aowei is up to the task anyway. Aowei is publicly supporting Zhenhuan’s bid for the role of torch holder at next year’s pre-game Olympic ceremonies in Beijing.

One ink spot walked up to another ink spot and said “why are you crying?”
The other ink spot replied “because my dad is in the pen and I don’t know how long the sentence will be!”
Thirsty Thursday – Cuban Mojito
Uncategorized July 26th, 2007
I’m heading down to Miami today so I thought a Cuban Mojito Recipe would be fitting for the day.
From Taste of Cuba
Cuban Mojito recipe
the original authentic recipe from Havana Cuba
1 teaspoon powdered sugar
Juice from 1 lime (2 ounces)
4 mint leaves1 sprig of mint
Havana Club white Rum (2 ounces)
2 ounces club sodaPlace the mint leaves into a long mojito glass (often called a “collins” glass) and squeeze the juice from a cut lime over it. You’ll want about two ounces of lime juice, so it may not require all of the juice from a single lime. Add the powdered sugar, then gently smash the mint into the lime juice and sugar with a muddler (a long wooden device pictured below, though you can also use the back of a fork or spoon if one isn’t available). Add ice (preferably crushed) then add the rum and stir, and top off with the club soda. Garnish with a mint sprig.
Someone added me to their MySpace blog as one of the
“ridiculous blogs that the internet has coughed up over the last few weeks. None of them are particularly worth your valuable time”.
I immediately looked at how many friends he has (197) and I thought, “Sweet, thank you dude, for another source of traffic.”
If my blog ever becomes serious or worth your time, I’ll let you know.
Don’t hold your breath.

You’ve noticed by now that I’m going to have a little theme for every day and Friday’s I’m just going to post whatever the heck I feel like posting! I need some filler damn it, I can’t go driving around for hours looking for mailboxes!
For my first Friday Free For All, I’m going to milk this John Cow craze with their moomoo meme.
The idea is simple: You want readers and you want link backs too because that’s all us bloggers want, it’s more precious than milk for some ![]()
So how does it work?
Simple! You just copy the list down below on your blog, hence creating link backs for your blogging friends and then click the RSS feed link to subscribe to all of them. Then you add yourself and up to 5 other bloggers and their feeds to the end of the list before you publish it on your own blog. Show your friends some link love ![]()
Just imagine if just 10 people would do this and then 10 more after them. That would get your blog 100 extra link backs and 100 extra feed subscribers!
