Junk Mail Roasting Over an Open Fire
Unusual Mailbox February 11th, 2008
Here is another one of a kind mailbox from Ed Witles of Glen Burnie, Maryland. Can you spot where the mail goes? It took me a minute to find it.
Here’s the way it looks at night, candles and hearth a glow!
If you haven’t been following along, Mr. Witles has been creating unique mailboxes for a few years now and these are a few of my favorites so far:

I have no clue where the mail goes in. I’m looking and looking, but it’s not coming to me. But neither did the bear on one photo you posted a little while ago. Promise you’ll tell us where the mail goes at some point!

Hehe, you may need to click on the image to enlarge it, but you’ll see on the bottom right a small white knob that opens a door.

Wow, that’s really hidden, isn’t it? Cool mailbox. I like this guy’s work!

Wow! That took awhile!
Very interesting mail box.
I wonder how long it took the postman to figure out where the mail goes in!

I like taking pictures of mailboxes too. The one in your photograph is unique and extremely large. I hope the mail doesn’t go into the wrong slot and get burned in the fireplace.

Kathy, I’m lucky in that I used to live in his town and still have friends and family there. My in-laws have met him and told him about this blog, so his son e-mails me whenever a new mailbox goes up!
LA - I’ve wondered about that myself, but I think the mailman is used to it by now
AV - Send some of those picture in for us!
